The organizers of the 12th International Seminar-Meeting on Rebetiko in Skyros in collaboration with the PEAP of the Municipality of Skyros and the Ethnological and Folklore Museum “Manos and Anastasia Faltaits” decided, with a high sense of responsibility, to postpone and transfer the seminar for the summer of 2021 due to the health crisis caused by the pandemic of SARS-cov-2. The seminar all these years is a magical week which travel us, friends from Greece, Europe etc., in musical paths of rebetiko. All together enjoy the music we love during the sunny mornings in the lessons, the afternoons’ speeches and the evenings in the hospitable taverns of the island. After the announcement of the recent precaution measures on 28/4/2020, by the Prime Minister of Greece, the clarifications of the competent Ministers and the suggestions of the scientific committee we estimate that under these conditions it is not possible to maintain the “spirit” of our seminar-meeting for this summer. In addition, must be protected the health of participants, the local community of Skyros which has so far effectively protected the island and of course must be maintained the relatively good health situation of the country. Finally, the inability to determine the end of the ban on air travelling, hotels operation and sea transportation to the islands do not guarantee a safe planning of participants and their friendly environment. In this difficult period, our primary obligation is to protect our health, so that to get back our lives and to return to our previous normal way of life. We look forward to hearing from you and we are at your disposal for any information you want. Let’s be all healthy and the summer 2021 for one more time to shake hands, hug and kiss each other, play and sing rebetiko, our wonderful music.
